"I am here too help you feel better. FAST!"
Mark Rogers was first trained in massage therapy in 1996 at the Health Enrichment Center in Lapeer, MI. He started his career working at two clinics in Sterling Heights: Center for the Healing Arts and Wellness Physical Medicine Center (a physician owned physical therapy clinic). Since 1998, in addition to his private practice, he has been a staff Massage Therapist, at Beaumont Health Center in Royal Oak, working in the physical therapy department.
Mark obtained accreditation as a Bowenwork Practitioner through studies with the Bowen Academy of Australia (Bowtech) and has completed advanced Bowen studies as well. He has been amazed at the power of Bowenwork at not only healing his clients aches and pains, but his own as well. Bowenwork is his passion and he hopes to spread the word, that all people need a Bowen Therapist on their health care team!
Mark is also a certified practitioner of the Rolf Method of Structural Integration, having completed a nearly 500-hour, 4-month training program at the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder, CO (He has also studied at the Rolf Institute, also in Boulder). There are only approximately twenty-five people in the state of Michigan have trained at, and are current members of, the two schools. This training and experience in Structural Integration gives Mark an understanding of the complexities of the human body that enhances his Bowenwork practice. In fact, aside from himself, he knows of only one other person with the dual Bowenwork/Rolfing training in the world!

An Interview with Mark Rogers
How long have you been specializing in pain relief therapy?
Wow, I have been in the alternative healing field for over 15 years now!
What techniques to do you use?
Bowenwork is my primary treatment technique that I am using now. There is nothing else like it! Bowenwork is specific and precise at targeting areas of the body that are out of balance, without being forceful. The approach really resonates with me! I still do a handfulf of rolfing/manual therapy sessions a week, but am currently only taking on new clients for Bowenwork.
Where have you studied?
My Bowen studies have been through the Bowenwork Academy of Australia. In July 2011, I took my advanced Bowtech Specialized Procedures 2 training course with Ossie and Elaine Rentsch from Australia. I also have studied at the Guild for Structural Integration (aka Rolfing) in Boulder, CO, the Health Enrichment Center School of Therapeutic Massage in Lapeer, and countless bodywork seminars through the years including Neuromuscular Therapy and Myofascial Release.
Where have you worked at?
I spent over 10 years working as a massage therapist at Beaumont Hospital Physical Therapy as well as at Wellness Physical Medicine in Sterling Heights and Center for the Healing Arts in Sterling Heights.
I am already working with another health practitioner, why should I work with you?
If you are not getting the relief that you are looking for, then it is definitely time to try Bowenwork! Plus, my clients get relief often times quicker and Bowenwork is very long lasting.
How is Bowenwork different than massage or Rolfing®?
Bowenwork does not use oils or lotions and the goal is to not just relax muscles but to effect muscle tension through the nervous system. This way the body balances itself verse the therapist forcing the body to relax and align based on the therapists pre-conceived ideals and goals.
What makes you different than other Bowenwork Practitioners?
I also incorporate mindful awareness and simple, customized exercises for each client as they are ready. I often teach simple self-help techniques too! Plus I have over 15 years of bodywork experience plus physical therapy experience at Beaumont. Also, with all of my massage and Rolf Structural Integration experience, I have additional tools in case the body is not responding and needs a “little nudge” in the right direction!
What types of clients do you work with?
What kinds of ailments do you treat? Bowenwork can help with most ailments that one would see a chiropractor, physical therapist or massage therapist for, and often in less visits! I have treated newborns, kids, teenagers and adults of all ages, including a 101 year old!
What is your success rate?
For those who commit to 3 to 5 sessions, I see a success rate of about 80%! They may still need a few more sessions, but will know they are on their way to getting there! Some people (let's call the curiosity seekers!) come looking for a one session miracle. If you are one of those, I advise looking elsewhere. While miracles do often happen with Bowenwork, if it has been broken for a long time, it may take a little longer than one session to get fixed! So I prefer working with those committed to getting better!
Where is your office?
I am located in Birmingham at 1775 E. 14 Mile Road (one block east of Woodward, north side of the street in the Birmingham Professional Building). My office is on the first floor.
How much do you charge?
Individual Bowenwork sessions are $75 each. I also offer treatment packages to make the work more affordable over the long haul.
What methods of payment do you take?
I accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
How many sessions are needed?
This is variable on how long the condition has been around. For something acute, often one or two sessions will resolve it. Chronic conditions seem to take anywhere from 3 to 8 sessions.
Do you offer discounts or packages?
YES! Packages are the most economical way to go! I offer 3 and 5 session plans. 3 sessions cost $195 ($65 each) and 5 sessions cost $300 ($60 each!)
Does health insurance or Medicare pay for Bowenwork?
Unfortunately not at this time.
Do you offer referral discounts?
YES! My new Referral Program rewards you $15 for each new client you refer! I love referrals!
Does Bowenwork hurt?
For the most part, Bowenwork is not painful. There may be tender areas but you should never be gritting your teeth when I’m working on you!!
How fast does it work?
I hope you see results from the first session, but I often don’t expect it. Usually the first session is like “re-booting” your body’s computer and then progressively you will notice improvement. If you are not noticeably improving after 4 or 5 sessions, then I usually recommend trying another therapy. I do not like taking peoples money if they aren’t feeling results!
After I am better what kind of maintenance program do you recommend?
Ideally, I think every 3 months is a great rule of thumb to maintain the benefits of your initial Bowen series. And once a month is awesome as a wellness and preventitive tool if your budget allows it. You can also “call me when you want to see me” if a new injuty occurs or if a chronic issue starts to resurface. I say, do what your gut tells me, and for sure come in whenever you feel like something is not working quite right!
